Coal accounts for a large proportion of China's energy structure. In China's total primary energy consumption, coal accounts for 75%, while foreign countries average 28%. Acid rain is one of the three major environmental problems in the world today. Because SO2 in flue gas generated by fuel combustion is the main cause of acid rain, flue gas desulfurization is the main technical means to control SO2 pollution and prevent acid rain hazard. With the improvement of industrial modernization, China's environmental problems have become more and more serious. The emission of SO2 is increasing. The total amount of sulfur dioxide emissions in China has ranked first in the world, exceeding 80% of the atmospheric environment capacity. Large areas of acid rain occur in the southwest and south China. The acid rain area accounts for about 1/3 of the country's land area. It has become the third largest acid rain area in the world after North America and Europe... In order to control the deterioration trend of acid rain pollution caused by SO2 emissions, China's new air pollution prevention and control law has been promulgated, and the sulfur dioxide emission charging system has been fully implemented. It is imperative to develop, promote and apply various desulfurization technologies.


The development of flue gas desulfurization technology is changing with each passing day. The technology of desulfurization and magnesium oxide has many characteristics such as low investment, low operating cost, good environmental protection benefit, high desulfurization efficiency, recyclable by-products and certain economic benefits, and avoids many large-scale wet methods. Disadvantages, therefore, magnesium oxide desulfurization technology will gradually become more widely used, and is getting more and more people's attention.


The technology of desulfurization and magnesium oxide has many application achievements all over the world. Among them, more than 100 projects have been applied in 13 of them. 95% of Taiwan's power stations use magnesium oxide. The United States and Germany have already applied them. Start promoting and get successful applications in some areas.
